I'm at work so I can't save and paste this patch but to anyone else interested like u/Lundi3000 - here is a screenshot of your patch with my updates. But because we are resetting the phase at the rate of the base frequency, that is the pitch your ear hears. And this is what is adding harmonics to your sound as you turn up the knob.
The saw~ frequency is getting multiplied by the value of the sync knob. It is just resetting the phase on your saw~ at the frequency you play. What's exciting is that this is governing the pitch your ear hears even though it isn't the oscillator going out of your speakers. So as I understand it - the phasor~ is being played at the base frequency - this is the fundamental your ear is going to hear and it should be connected to whatever your midi input is.

Going to play with the range a tiny bit, but it is bang on and makes sense with what the manual said. I plugged in a kslider to the base frequency knob and it sounds awesome. Right on! That patch really hits it - I just had to connect the sync sig~ to the *~ right inlet - looks like there was a little missed connection there.
